What to Expect During a Cranio Sacral Session with Me

If you are booking a craniosacral session for the first time, you may not yet know exactly what to expect. Many people come with a specific concern, such as stress, inner restlessness, pain, tension, sleep difficulties, emotional strain, or the feeling that they have reached a point where something needs to change.
Some people know exactly what they would like to talk about. Others simply feel: I do not want to continue the way things are. I need space. I want to understand myself better again.
There is room for both in my studio.

It Begins with a Conversation
A session with me usually begins with a conversation. This is an important part of my work because I want to understand you as a whole person, rather than focusing only on a single symptom or issue.
I want to understand what is currently affecting you, what is happening in your life, and what connections may begin to emerge. Physical discomfort, emotional reactions, and recurring patterns often tell a larger story.
You may come to me with tension in your neck, back pain, headaches, or sleep difficulties. During our conversation, it may become clear that stress, overwhelm, old patterns, inner conflict, or a major life transition are also playing a role.
Sometimes it is the other way around: you arrive feeling emotionally overwhelmed, and your body shows very clearly where something is being held.
I See You as a Whole Person
In my work, I aim to see you as a whole person—with your story, your experiences, your protective mechanisms, your inner parts, and everything that is currently alive within you.
Many people who come to me are highly self-aware. They have gained a great deal of insight, read extensively, and already explored themselves in depth. Even so, there are often issues that cannot be resolved through thinking alone.
The mind may understand why a pattern developed, while the body continues to react as though the original situation were still happening. This is where bodywork can be especially valuable.
It engages not only the mind, but also deeper levels of perception, emotion, memory, and the nervous system.
Bodywork
After our conversation, the craniosacral work or mindful bodywork begins. You remain fully clothed and lie on the treatment table while I work with gentle touch.
Depending on the issue, the session may be very quiet, or we may continue talking throughout. Inner images, memories, or insights may arise. At other times, the focus is simply on sensing the body and allowing more calm to return.
I adapt each session to your individual needs. If you prefer a more rational and structured approach, we can work through understanding, body awareness, and clear connections. If you are open to inner imagery, visualisation, or energy work, these may also form part of the session.
And if you do not feel like talking very much, the bodywork itself can take centre stage.
Why Conversation and Bodywork Belong Together
My work often focuses on bringing connections into awareness.
Why do I keep reacting in a certain way?Where do I recognise this feeling from?Which part of me is trying to protect me?Which past experiences may still be influencing my life today?
Recognising these connections often leads to greater self-understanding. Not in the sense of, “I have to change immediately,” but rather: “Now I understand why I do this and why it feels this way. Perhaps I can respond to it differently today.”
This clarity can be very relieving. What previously felt like a confusing tangle of thoughts often becomes more tangible and easier to understand after a session.
A Non-Judgemental Space
An important part of my work is the space I hold for you. Here, you can express what may not have a place elsewhere. Thoughts, feelings, doubts, anger, grief, shame, or longings do not need to be judged or resolved immediately.
This often helps you reconnect with yourself—with what you truly feel, what you need, and what you may have been holding back for a long time. Together, we find the words and language that allow you to express what is really on your mind.
For me, a session is not a place where you have to perform or keep functioning. It is a space where you are invited to reconnect with yourself.
How Many Sessions Are Recommended?
This is highly individual. Some people come for a single session because they need support with a particular situation. Others attend over a longer period because they want to work more deeply with their patterns, nervous system, or body awareness.
After the first session, it is often easier to assess what feels right for you. Sometimes one appointment is enough to bring greater clarity. At other times, it becomes apparent that an issue has several layers and may benefit from more ongoing support.
You do not need to commit to a long-term process straight away. You can begin with one session and then see how you feel afterwards.
